Mark G Brennan

Mark Brennan is a clinical educator who specialises in clinical ethics, law and professionalism. He has held academic appointments at the University of Bristol medical school, the Wales College of Medicine at Cardiff University, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland medical school, Trinity College Dublin and the University of Kent. He is co-author of The Practical Guide to Medical Ethics and Law (Pastest, 2nd edition 2005) and Ethics and Law for the Dental Team (Pastest, 2006).
He qualified in medical ethics and law at King’s College London, obtaining a Master’s degree in 1991. He obtained the Diploma in the History of Medicine of the Society of Apothecaries of London in 1991, and is an Associate of King’s College London, a Member of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and The Higher Education Academy. He is a director and elected member of the governing body of the Institute of Medical Ethics.
Currently he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education in the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust where he teaches professionalism, medical ethics and teaching skills to foundation programme doctors. He is also an Honorary Associate Dean in the Postgraduate Deanery for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He teaches at the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency. He is an external examiner at Birmingham University.
